KVETCH STOOL
Aluminum metal sheet (2mm), Barrel clasp.
“Frequent visits to the junkyard are an enjoyable source of inspiration“. In the context of this project, I took the clasps of chemical barrels, which are made to open and close hundreds of times, but are usually discarded only after a single use, when the barrels is opened. I took these clasps and used them to make a knock-down stools.
Three identical segments of folded sheet of metal are joined together with a clasp and the pressure of the clasp turns the pieces into a solid, stand-alone stool, making energy part of the product itself. The stool bestows upon the clasp a vitality and longevity exceeding that for which it was created.
