LOTTERY STREET KIOSKS

Designing sales kiosks for Mifal HaPais

Designing sales kiosks for Mifal HaPais presents numerous challenges. These kiosks,
functioning as large street furniture or small structures placed on sidewalks, aim to attract
passersby while also having the potential to disrupt pedestrians’ flow. The design must balance
designers’ conflict: Mifal HaPais›s need to establish a visible presence and increase sales
without dominating or obstructing the public space and without causing visual disruption.
The design process needs to account for the kiosk›s location in a pedestrian environment
filled with obstacles such as streetlights, signage, garbage and recycling bins, alongside the
movement of bicycles, scooters, and other urban elements.
The adopted design approach is one of design singularity. This is demonstrated by the ability
to customize each kiosk uniquely in its colors and imagery to reflect the spirit, culture, and
environment of the city it resides in, while maintaining a consistent, cylindrical form that is
distinctive, simple, and easily recognizable. This design flexibility is achieved through the use
of mosaic cladding and the engagement of local creative talents.
