Copyright & Licensing
Photography as a work, not simply a file
The photographs offered on this website are original photographic works by Eran Lederman.
Purchasing a digital image means purchasing the right to use the work. It does not mean purchasing the copyright or ownership of the photograph itself.
My intention is to make the photographs available for meaningful personal and professional use while preserving their integrity as authored works. The licence is therefore deliberately broad in the ways the image may be used, but clear about the distinction between using a photograph and taking ownership of it.
The licence
Unless otherwise stated, the purchase of a digital image grants the purchaser a:
non-exclusive, non-transferable, worldwide and perpetual licence for personal and commercial use.
Copyright and ownership of the photographic work remain with Eran Lederman.
The same photograph may therefore be licensed to other purchasers unless a separate exclusive agreement has been made in writing.
What you may do
The purchased image may be used in a wide range of personal and commercial contexts, including:
- websites and digital publications
- presentations and reports
- editorial and educational publications
- advertising, communication and promotional materials
- social media
- printed publications and graphic design
- interior display
- professional and organisational communications
The image may be resized, cropped and incorporated into a larger design where required for the intended use.
Reasonable adjustments to size, colour and format are permitted when needed for production or design purposes.
What the licence does not allow
The licence does not permit the purchaser to:
- sell, redistribute or share the original digital image file
- sublicense or transfer the licence to another person or organisation
- offer the image as a downloadable asset, whether free or paid
- upload the image to stock photography sites, image libraries, asset libraries or similar distribution platforms
- claim authorship of the photograph
- present the photograph as the purchaser’s own original photographic work
- register the photograph itself as a trademark, logo or other exclusive intellectual property
- use the photograph in a way that falsely suggests endorsement by Eran Lederman
Products for resale
Commercial use of the photograph within a design, publication, communication or promotional context is permitted.
However, the standard licence does not cover products whose primary commercial value is the photograph itself.
For example, separate permission is required if the photograph is to be used as the principal content of products offered for resale, such as:
- photographic prints
- posters
- postcards
- greeting cards
- clothing
- merchandise
- decorative products
- downloadable templates or image products
If you are interested in such a use, please get in touch to discuss an appropriate licence.
Artificial intelligence and machine learning
The purchased image may not be used, uploaded or supplied for the training, fine-tuning, development or improvement of artificial intelligence, machine-learning or generative-image systems without prior written permission.
This restriction also applies to datasets, model training libraries and similar automated image-analysis or image-generation resources.
Attribution
Attribution is appreciated where appropriate, but is not required for ordinary licensed use unless specifically stated otherwise.
Where a credit is included, the preferred form is:

Copyright
All photographs and photographic works presented on this website remain protected by copyright.
Purchase, download, modification or incorporation of an image into another work does not transfer copyright in the underlying photograph.

Uses outside the standard licence
Photography can be used in many contexts that cannot all be anticipated in advance.
If the intended use falls outside these terms, or if you are interested in:
- an extended commercial licence
- merchandise or products for resale
- exclusive use
- publication rights
- exhibitions
- collaborations
- institutional or large-scale use
please get in touch.
I would rather discuss an unusual or ambitious use than make the licence unnecessarily restrictive.
