BACKFIRE
A ready-made object reflecting how mediated violence penetrates daily perception, turning distance into intimacy and observation into exposure.
You don’t have to find yourself in a dilapidated neighborhood or dark alley. You don›t have to
wear a uniform and carry a weapon in the line of fire to be exposed to brutal violence and
hurt by it.
A brutal murder taking place in a far-of corner of a desert will reach millions of people in a
flash, in real time.
The mobile device or the screen in the living room feeds live and violent content into our
consciousness, and once it goes in it will never come out, leaving fatal mental injuries and scars.
Exhibited at ”Violent Object” Julia Mizrachi, Vitrina gallery, HIT – Holon Institute of Technology,
Israel, 2017.
Curators – Itay Laniado and Shira Keret.
