A Personal Note on Design
For me, design is the exciting meeting ground of ideas, people and fascinating places. Design for me is a means of observation, of contemplation. Once skills are mastered, design is a channel of expression, expansive, dynamic and diverse field of action. One can hardly find a better bridge between past and future, tradition and innovation, resources and necessities.
Design for me is a vessel which I use to wander between disciplines which may be viewed remote and permanently disconnected, to Jump over boundaries and definitions, utilizing cracks between old borders and new horizons.
My design activity meandered between theory – research by design/design research – material, and craft. Spanning these fields led my creative work to range on the one hand from design of products for widespread use, to unique one-of-akind objects on the other. Indeed, several of my works emerged from academic research and are implemented in the realm of industry, while others sprouted in the industrial-commercial field and ended in galleries and museum spaces.
In my work I enjoyed collaborating with fellow designers and scholars from wide range of disciplines. However, one of the most enjoyable part of my career is educating and exchange of ideas with the younger generation of designers – creative, sensitive and aware of their ability to create a change.
